The Philippine government has proposed allocating ₱8.67 billion to the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) scholarship programs under the 2027 National Expenditure Program. This expansion will support 67,504 undergraduate scholars nationwide.

Key Highlights of the 2027 DOST Scholarship Budget

  • Total Proposed Allocation: ₱8.67 Billion (an increase from 2026 levels).
  • Target Beneficiaries: 67,504 scholars under RA 7687 and the Merit Scholarship Program.
  • Monthly Living Allowance: ₱8,000 per month (₱80,000 per academic year).
  • Tuition Subsidy: Up to ₱40,000 per academic year for scholars in accredited private HEIs.

Maintaining Grade Policy (DOST-SEI)

To retain scholarship privileges, undergraduate scholars must maintain a semestral General Weighted Average (GWA) of at least 2.50 (or its numerical equivalent of 80.00%) with no failing grades in science, engineering, or mathematics courses.
