Key Rule: Are 5.00 Grades Included in UP GWA?
Yes. Under the UP University Code, every numerical grade from 1.00 to 5.00 is permanently recorded and calculated in both your Semestral GWA and Cumulative GWA (CWA). When you retake the subject, the new grade does not erase or overwrite the 5.00; both the 5.00 and the new grade are weighted by their unit credits.

To calculate your GWA when you have a 5.00 mark, multiply the grade (5.00) by the subject units, sum the total grade points, and divide by total enrolled units (excluding PE and NSTP):

Can You Still Graduate with Latin Honors with a 5.00?
Under UP Diliman and UP System guidelines, a grade of 5.00 does not automatically disqualify you from graduating with Latin Honors (Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude, Summa Cum Laude), provided that:
- Your final Cumulative GWA reaches the cutoff (Cum Laude: ≤ 1.7500; Magna Cum Laude: ≤ 1.4500; Summa Cum Laude: ≤ 1.2000).
- You completed the required minimum academic load of 15 units per regular semester (underloading disqualifies a student from Latin honors unless due to health/employment with approved university appeal).
