DOST Scholarship Grade Appeal: What to Do If Your GWA Drops Below 2.50

Official DOST-SEI appeal procedures for scholars who received a grade below 2.50 (85%), incurred a failing grade (5.0), or faced academic probation.

DOST Maintaining Grade Rules

  • First & Second Year: Semestral GWA of at least 2.75 (or 80.00%).
  • Third Year Onwards (JLSS): Semestral GWA of at least 2.50 (or 85.00%).
  • Failing Grades: A single grade of 5.00 results in temporary stipend suspension and placement on probation pending an approved appeal.

How to Submit an Appeal to DOST-SEI

  1. Secure an official Summary of Grades / Certified True Copy of Grades from your University Registrar.
  2. Write a formal Letter of Appeal addressed to the Director of the Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI).
  3. Include an explanation of the circumstances that contributed to the grade and outline your academic recovery plan.
  4. Submit the documents to your University DOST Core Group or the Regional DOST Scholarship Unit.
